Secondary Students Participation in Wharton Global High School Investment Competition

Our Grade 9, secondary student has shared their learning experiences in the Wharton Global High School Investment Competition. Here are the highlights from the students.

Umyar Q. Khan, Grade 9: Entering Grade 9, my appetite for competition was evident. With a natural drive for success, I eagerly sought opportunities to test my skills. It was during this time that I stumbled upon an investment competition, an endeavor that initially left me uncertain. 

I reached out to several friends, proposing the idea of making a team for the competition. To my delight, four of them accepted, and thus, our team was born. When the competition began we did not know what to do in any way or form.

Participating in this investment competition has been an amazing experience for my teammates and me. I wholeheartedly recommend it to fellow ISD and non-ISD students with an interest in business and aspirations for careers involving stocks and strategic acumen. The esteemed reputation of Wharton, one of the best business universities, adds weight to the value of this competition, offering participants a platform to hone their skills.

Should the opportunity arise to participate again next year, we would eagerly seize it, advocating for widespread involvement in this enriching event.

Zaveer, Grade 9: This was truly a learning experience for us all as we had to exercise our critical thinking and teamwork skills. Personally , I believe the real credit goes to our team’s synergy. Our critical thinking and ability to take on one another’s criticism and advice to work towards a common goal were really what allowed us to get so far. I’m very proud of all my teammates for getting this far and the time and effort they put into this competition. I hope we can participate again next year.

Farhaz, Grade 9: The learning experience was an interesting and fun process because everybody was contributing and collaborating, in addition to the real-world knowledge about finance that we had learned.
