I’m thrilled to share an update on our Middle School Girls Basketball team’s impressive performance at the recent tournament. Our talented student-athletes competed with fierce determination and exceptional skill, leaving it all on the court. In the preliminary rounds, the ISD team dominated the competition, securing decisive victories against formidable opponents from The Aga Khan Academy Dhaka and Grace International. Their teamwork, precise passing, and sharp shooting propelled them to the championship game.
In a heart-pounding final matchup against Sunnydale, our girls battled point for point, displaying incredible grit and perseverance. The game was a true nail-biter, with both teams trading the lead back and forth. As the final buzzer sounded, the score was tied, pushing the championship into a tense overtime period. Despite giving it their absolute best effort, the ISD team was narrowly edged out by just two points when the final overtime buzzer rang out. While the loss in the championship game was a tough pill to swallow, our team walked off the court with their heads held high, knowing they left everything on the floor. Their incredible journey to the tournament final and valiant effort as the proud runners-up is an achievement that our entire school community can celebrate. We are so proud of our Middle School Girls Basketball team for their hard work, sportsmanship, and the immense skill and heart they displayed throughout the tournament.
Boys Middle School Football Tournament at ISD The Middle School Boys Football team had an awesome day on the pitch, really coming together and showing what they’re made of. The boys were communicating way better than in previous games, calling out to each other, setting up plays, and keeping each other pumped up. That positive attitude and team spirit helped carry them through three tough matches. They fought hard in each one and came away with two well-earned draws. The third game ended in a loss but the boys never gave up, leaving it all on the field until the final whistle. Some standout moments came from Arish Debnath who was a wall in front of the net, making some incredible saves to keep the team in it. The Hawks should feel proud of how they performed out there. Next up is the final tournament at AISD coming up on January 18th. If the boys keep up this level of play and bring the same energy and determination, they’ve got a real shot at taking home the title. It’ll be an exciting one to watch, that’s for sure! The future is bright for this scrappy group of footballers.
