Excursions play a vital role in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) as they complement and enrich classroom learning. These experiences align with the PYP’s philosophy of fostering inquiry-based, transdisciplinary learning and nurturing the development of the whole child. This week parents from Grades 4 and 5 were invited to take part in information sessions for the upcoming excursions.
In February this year our Grade 5 students are heading to Nazimgargh Sylhet to develop and demonstrate their learning and understanding of Sharing the Planet. They will be exploring how ‘Climate change influences natural and cultural systems, highlighting their interdependence and the need for collective action.’
Also in February, our Grade 4 Students will be heading to Gazipur and the Sara Resort to explore how ‘Ecosystems are made up of living things that are interdependent.’ They will focus their inquiries on how parts of an ecosystem are connected, the effect of natural and human influences on ecosystems and our responsibility toward ecosystems.
We can not wait to see the photos and hear from the Grade 4 and 5 students regarding how much fun they will have and all of the exciting activities they will participate in! Stay tuned…
