G4 Sculpture Workshop with Artist Anisuzzaman Faroque (Mon 22 Apr)

On April 22nd, our Grade 4 students took part in an inspiring one-day sculpture workshop with renowned Bangladeshi and sculpture artist Anisuzzaman Faroque, right here on campus. In a unique collaboration with the PYP Visual Arts Department, homeroom teacher, and the artist residency Mohona, the magic of the studio was brought directly to our school.

Tied to their Unit of Inquiry under the transdisciplinary theme How We Express Ourselves, students explored the Central Idea: “The Arts can be a reflection of life” With Anis and his team’s expert guidance, they explored the process of turning ideas into three-dimensional form—learning how to sketch, build, and even solder their own small copper sculptures.

Through this hands-on experience, students engaged with key mathematical concepts such as geometry, symmetry, and spatial awareness, discovering how artists apply math in their creative process. It was a true showcase of transdisciplinary learning, where art, math, inquiry, and creative expression all came together.
The day was a celebration of collaboration, curiosity, and imagination, and we can’t wait to showcase our young sculptors’ final creations soon!
