Since joining ISD I have given much thought to establishing a new Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at our school. Since ISD has embarked on many changes this year it has come as no surprise that parents and our teachers have asked me whether we will be reintroducing the PTA back into our school community.I consider this a very important matter for everyone to consider because next year will be ISD’s 25th Anniversary and we also wish to give our parents a voice in the development of our school plans. In January 2024 ISD will be developing a new school strategic plan in partnership with International School Services (ISS) from the USA. Both of these developments require parent support to plan celebrations and to give stakeholder input into school changes to improve the education of our students. Almost all premium international schools have an established PTA and based on the feedback I have received I am confident that it is now the time to begin setting up the ISD PTA to support the education of our students and the return to community life for our school families.In our updated constitution, the Mission of the ISD PTA is to establish a strong home-school partnership that supports and promotes the building of a learning community. ISD PTA shall model a constructive and positive role for students by:
Providing support and parent involvement where required.
Sponsoring events and activities that promote the social wellbeing and image of the School.
Enabling better communication across the School.
Promote community and service in all areas of social interaction.
I know that many parents will be interested in the return of the PTA and wish that we all make a determined effort to join me in supporting this important pillar of our community in the weeks and months ahead.
