Grade 3 visit to Unimart

Grade 3 went on an exciting field trip to Unimart as part of our Unit of Inquiry on How We Organize Ourselves. This unit explores how people interact with the economy, and our visit helped us understand the concepts of goods, services, supply and demand, and how a local market functions. At Unimart, we observed different kinds of goods (products for sale) and services (like customer assistance) that help people meet their needs. The students were curious to learn how the store organizes its products, how they’re priced, and what factors influence supply and demand. 

For example, we noticed that some items were in high demand and had limited stock, while others were more plentiful. This sparked a discussion about how markets try to balance supply with what people want to buy (demand). 

The trip helped students see how the local economy works in real life and how different people participate in it. They also had the opportunity to ask questions, think critically about the choices we make when buying things, and connect this knowledge to our classroom learning.
