Iftar with Community Partners
The initiative brought together 170 students from Solmaid FFC (Family for Children), JAAGO Foundation’s ‘Dreams in Action,’ LEF For Life, Abinta Kabir Foundation, and ISD for an evening of interactive activities and a shared iftar meal.
Planned by ISD students across different service groups, the event aimed to create a meaningful experience for underprivileged children through activities such as painting, origami, bracelet-making, storytelling, reading, and Eid card designing. Fun games like Pictionary, Dumb Charades, and Musical Chairs, along with a movie screening and bonding sessions, helped foster an inclusive and engaging environment.
ISD students raised funds by selling stationery, stickers, and jewelry, using the proceeds to purchase sports equipment, books, and school supplies for donation. These contributions provided much-needed educational and recreational support to underserved children.
As part of ISD’s commitment to ethical action and sustainable development, this initiative aligned with key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). It was also integrated with the school’s Grade 8 summative project on ‘Human Dignity.’
Beyond the iftar gathering, ISD’s ‘Diamonds in the Rough’ (DITR) service group visited Bashundhara Children’s Group, engaging in mentorship and interactive sessions to bridge educational gaps and foster confidence-building. Additionally, ISD’s Void Project expanded its efforts to enhance recreational facilities in underserved communities by building basketball and cricket pitches in Solmaid to encourage teamwork, discipline, and physical well-being.
The event concluded with students and guests coming together at the ISD cafeteria for iftar, reinforcing the spirit of togetherness and social responsibility. Through initiatives like this, ISD remains committed to nurturing empathetic, socially responsible leaders who contribute to a more equitable society.
