The DP 2 class of 2024 showcased their CAS exhibition (Creativity, Activity, Service) on Monday, April 1st, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This exhibition provided students with a platform to demonstrate the outcome of their IB learning experiences and projects developed over the past 18 months.
CAS plays a crucial role in the IB core curriculum, emphasizing a holistic learning approach. Through active participation in personal and interpersonal experiences that foster creativity, physical well-being, and community service, students not only met the 7 IB CAS learning outcome requirements but also connected their projects to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students had an excellent balance of experiences covering the three strands: creativity, activity, and service. Their portfolio was documented on ManageBac with reflections and evidence. The exhibition celebrated their dedication to becoming global caring citizens through the transformative power of CAS, shaping well-rounded individuals who excel academically while embracing social responsibility.
The projects includes:
Service groups that work with local communities and schools to support needy children. Examples of the service groups that were run by different students include: Diamonds in the Rough (DITR), Green committee, Love Education Food (LEF), Food for families (FFC). The students run service Saturday programmes that provide access to ISD facilities like math and science classes, swimming lessons and sports. The service groups are linked to several UN Sustainable Development Goals, goal #1 No poverty, #4 Quality Education, and #10 Reduced Inequality.
Partnering with Ex-Bangladeshi football veterans to promote community football between staff, teachers and Locals. The students raised funds to support the initiative.
CAS subject integration in different subjects like Infinity math, STEM olympiad, Robotics, DP-PYP Biology peer lessons on body systems. Students support MYP/PYP peers by sharing their class experiences in line with UN Sustainable goal #4 Quality Education.
