ISD New Meal Plan

ISD New Meal Plan
It feels wonderful to pack a nutritious, freshly prepared meal for your child! As you close that lunchbox, you smile, knowing you are providing love and fuel for learning. But are you certain about the nutritional information? Is your child meeting all of their daily requirements? Especially during long school days, inadequate nourishment can lead to difficulties with concentration.  And since it’s packed early in the morning, what about the quality (smell, texture, temperature)? Some children choose to buy food outside from the dedicated school cafeteria, which is not healthy or nutritious at all! Parents might believe that their child is eating a healthy meal, but is that the case? Healthy eating promotes students’ growth, brain development, and general health which have beneficial effects on academic achievements. To keep our junior angels and senior youngsters from getting bored and to give them the freedom to select the foods that provide the best nutrition, we always strive to add a variety of new items to our school meal plan. This time parent can also go through the nutritional values of each meal and know how a particular meal contributes to their child’s health.   Why nutritious school meals are needed?
  • To grow concentration
  • To ensure hormonal balance (e.g. growth hormones, reproductive hormones, etc.)
  • For skin health
  • To maintain a proper sleep cycle and psychological stability
  • To avoid bowel irritation
  • To reduce future health risk (e.g. diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc.)
What are the new additions in meal preparation?
  • Focus on the nutrient value and balancing
  • Enhancing fruit and vegetable options
  • Modifying the preparation process (e.g. sauté fry and baking instead of deep fry)
  • Healthy alteration- (e.g. lowering simple carb, using a natural sugar substitute, using whole grain, etc.)
  • Including varieties of food items
