Pahela Baishakh holds significant cultural and historical importance in Bangladesh as it marks the beginning of the Bengali New Year, the first day of the Bengali calendar. Pahela Baishakh represents a time of renewal, hope, and cultural heritage for the Bengali people. This year Pahela Baishakh will be celebrated on 14th April 2024 country-wide. As the International School Dhaka (ISD) will be observing the Eid break during that period, our community will come together to celebrate this occasion on April 22nd in Red-White traditional attire.
We are delighted to extend our warmest invitation to you for a special Parent-Staff Breakfast on April 22nd which will feature mouthwatering traditional Bangladeshi food. This event marks the celebration of Pahela Baishakh, the vibrant Bangla New Year, and serves as an opportunity for us to unite as a community and celebrate our rich cultural heritage.
During the celebrations, we will also arrange a ‘Baishakhi Mela’ from 12- 4 pm in the ISD Admin Foyer where a few stalls will be available, offering various traditional items and treats. These stalls will add to the festive atmosphere, providing attendees with a glimpse into the cultural richness of the occasion.
Subsequently, students will have the opportunity to engage in further cultural activities to celebrate Pahela Baishakh. From 12.30 pm, students and staff will engage in a cultural procession from the admin foyer and around the campus, followed by traditional games on the field. This celebration offers students invaluable learning opportunities as they gain a deeper understanding of Bangladeshi traditions, customs, and values. Pahela Baishakh is not just a cultural event; it is a holistic learning experience that enriches students’ knowledge, fosters their personal growth, and strengthens their bond with their cultural identities.
We cordially invite our esteemed Parents & Staff to partake in a morning filled with traditional Bangla delicacies, music, camaraderie, and celebrations. This breakfast event will provide a wonderful platform for parents and staff to connect, share experiences, and strengthen our bonds within the school community.
If you plan to attend the Pahela Baishakh Parent-Staff breakfast, please confirm your attendance by completing and submitting the RSVP form provided. Your presence would indeed make this occasion even more memorable. We look forward to welcoming you to our school and sharing in the joy of Pahela Baishakh.
