Pi Week at ISD: A Celebration of Math, Memory & Fun!

Pi Day, celebrated annually on March 14th (3/14), is a global celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi). To commemorate this special day, ISD Dhaka mathematics department organized a series of engaging and educational events, during the week (9–13 March, 2025), transforming the learning environment into a hub of mathematical exploration and fun.
To make Pi week memorable, we crafted a diverse range of activities catering to different interests and skill levels.
- Pi Recitation Contest: A Test of Memory and Dedication
The contest fostered a sense of awe for the infinite nature of pi and highlighted the dedication of those who memorized its digits.
- Pi-Day Escape Room: A Mathematical Treasure Hunt
This event promoted teamwork, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking, all while engaging participants in a fun and interactive way.
- “Guess the Number of Circles” Jar: An Exercise in Estimation
This simple yet engaging activity encouraged participants to develop their estimation skills and visualize quantity.
- Rubik’s Cube Competition: A Display of Spatial Reasoning
The competition showcased the beauty of mathematical patterns and the power of logical deduction.
- Pi-cture & Mathematical Art Contest: Creativity Meets Mathematics
This event demonstrated the artistic side of mathematics and encouraged participants to explore the connections between art and science.
- Solve the Puzzle Challenge: Engaging Logical Thinking
This event allowed for people to work on their own, or in groups, to solve complex and engaging puzzles.
Overall:
Pi week was a resounding success, fostering a love for mathematics and demonstrating its relevance in everyday life. The events provided a platform for students, teachers, and community members to engage in fun and educational activities, creating a memorable celebration of this remarkable constant. By combining intellectual challenges with creative expression, we successfully transformed Pi week into an inspiring and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
