Ramadan Kareem to everyone !!

The Primary and a few Secondary students got the opportunity to meet Adiba Khalid the writer. She spoke about how she was inspired to write this book focussing on Ramadan as her daughter the little curious Falak (the main character of this book) often asked her different questions to her Mom about how, when and why Muslim people around the world fast, why fasting is so important to a Muslim, Why a Muslim’s cannot even drink a drop of water from dawn to dusk and many more. Adiba spent quite some time in Papua New Guinea in her childhood and she also felt that in a non-muslim country, it was difficult to fast and the celebration of Eid is not the same as it was in her own country. Adiba Khalid then decided to write a book and publish it as a timely book for children to learn the values of Islam that are practiced especially during this holy month. For the non-Muslims, it’s a great opportunity for them too, to support their fasting friends and communities by learning about the Islamic faith, fostering a greater understanding and respect for diversity. This book consists of five different chapters and every chapter emphasizes the key values of Islam—fasting, virtues of patience, importance of charity, and Quran recitation. Her discussion about the book helped our Muslim students to go through the basics of the Muslim religion and what are the beliefs and values that a Muslim should practice by heart. The Students were very curious to know more about charity and how they can help needy people in their time of need. Adiba Khalid’s visit to ISD has helped our students to become more open-minded and to grow as an international-minded person!! The author has left several copies of her book for sale.
