One of the great things to discover at ISD is that you are actually represented by the coolest bird in the world. Yes, that’s right, we are all Hawks! This is our mascot and it has been a big source of pride seeing our students compete representing the Hawks of ISD these past few weeks.
But have you ever stopped to think about what makes it so special being a Hawk? Let me help you with this in our first newsletter of the year.
Hawks, like ISD’s own community, are very diverse. You might be surprised to find out that there are over 270 species of hawks in the world. What better reason for ISD to celebrate and value this diversity. Just like we have 32 nationalities in the ISD community, you will be pleased to know that various species of hawks live in Bangladesh.
Did you also know that birds have outlived dinosaurs and other forms of life on earth, with fossil records dating back 400 million years? Quite an achievement, isn’t it? This demonstrates the Hawk’s resilience and adaptability to its surroundings. With so many ‘Third Culture Kids’ at ISD, where students come from different cultural and geographic backgrounds, they really demonstrate great resilience and adaptability to their surroundings here in Dhaka. This is an essential preparation for the future world our students will be living in.
