“I want a fruit stand,” said Safwana, “Me too” added Ayesha and Aleena, “But no, I prefer to sell dresses!” “I want to sell phones said Aubry”, “I want to sell toys but it will be a Shawpno” “Me too,” said Zahir.  The Unit of Inquiry,”Who We Are” for Nursery focuses on exploring the nature of the self and the role of culture and identity in shaping who we are as individuals and as a community. Connecting this unit with the idea of preparing a Bangladeshi street market provided a rich and meaningful learning experience for students. Students teamed up to set up cool stands for the street market, creating the vibe of Dhaka and its monuments.

But we did not just stop there the whole community came together, inviting the parents, other classes, and local businesses. Each group brings a slice of their own cultural pie to the stands, turning this market into a melting pot of flavors. We’re turning into communication pros, explaining the significance of these landmarks and how they connect to personal and cultural values, as we have learned during the Unit.

And here’s the game changer: it’s not just a nice activity. This project zooms out to a global perspective, showing how our little street market adds to the worldwide mix of cultures. We’re not just setting up stands; we’re taking action. This isn’t just a one-time thing; it’s a journey. By the end, we’re not just leaving with cool memories; we’re leaving a mark on our community, bringing people together, and making our world a bit more understanding and awesome.
