World-leading robotics program at ISD Autumn Camp for the first time in Bangladesh

World-leading robotics program at ISD Autumn Camp for the first time in Bangladesh

Carnegie Mellon VEX and Lego Autumn Camp makes ISD students future-ready and help prepare them to take part in competitions worldwide!

We are thrilled to celebrate the remarkable success of our Carnegie Mellon Robotics Camp at ISD. Students in Grades 2-12, enjoyed the week with great enthusiasm and curiosity into the worlds of VEX IQ (Inspiration and Quality), VEX EXP (Experience), and LEGO PRIME robotics!

We were excited to have 16 students enrolled in our Carnegie Mellon Robotics Camp, which ran from October 22 to October 26. Led by experienced and certified instructors George Carrington and Claudette Muller, our robotics camp was designed to extend the robotics curriculum and provide students with fun and engaging learning experiences.

  • Robotics Assembly: Students will learn how to assemble and program robots using a variety of tools and techniques.
  • Coding and Computational Thinking: Students will develop their coding skills and learn how to think computationally to solve problems.
  • Mini-Focus Challenges: Students will participate in mini-challenges geared towards competition, allowing them to apply their skills in a fun and engaging way.
  • Fun and Creativity: Our camp is designed to be a fun and creative learning environment that encourages students to explore and experiment with robotics.

Among these budding engineers and designers crafted innovations that showcased their creativity and problem-solving skills.

Students designed and built a Lego Prime Robot that maneuvered through an obstacle course collecting prearranged objects. They accomplished this by coding in blocky code language, which enabled them to choreograph the robot’s movements on the playing field.

Students also assembled a VEX IQ & EXP Clawbot that navigates an obstacle course by utilizing its arms and claws to choreograph the gripping and releasing of objects. Students achieved this by mastering the art of coding to orchestrate the robot’s movements.

To successfully complete these challenges, students had to work together collaboratively and use high levels of critical thinking.

As the camp came to a close, we proudly awarded each student a Carnegie Mellon Certificate of Completion. This recognition not only celebrates their hard work but also signifies the beginning of their journey in the dynamic field of robotics.

The impact of our Carnegie Mellon Robotics Camp extends far beyond the confines of our campus. The skills acquired by these students lay the foundation for their future endeavors in #technology and problem-solving. We are proud to have been a part of their journey towards becoming the innovators of tomorrow.

  • […] ISD completed its  Autumn Training Camp last week, with a sell-out crowd of students from ISD and Bangladesh, all of whom benefited from the expert training of Barça Academy coaches.  Running throughout the week of October 22, the Autumn Training Camp kicked off on the exceptional sporting facilities of ISD Field. We were delighted to welcome and host esteemed guests, parents and community members.  We were honored to host His Excellency Ambassador Francisco Benitez Salas, Spanish Ambassador to Bangladesh, to officially open the training camp.   This exciting partnership comes as part of the school’s newly-implemented ISD 2.0 strategy and commitment beyond classroom activities.  The whole week was full of vibrant spirit and passion on the field from the young players under the guidance of Barca coaches Joel and Gorka and with full support and cheer from our parent community! Students learned the importance of discipline and team spirit as well as football techniques, such as spacing and dribbling.  The training camp was a truly engaging and unique learning experience for ISD students and the wider community!
