Tanzif Alam Chowdhury
Meet one of our two Valedictorians 🎓 Tanzif Alam Chowdhury, Class of 2022
Tanzif graduated from ISD this year and will join Brown University in the US. Let's get to know such a dynamic ISD learner through an interview!
🎓 How does it feel to be one of the valedictorians of the class of 2022?
I feel honored as well as grateful to everyone who’s supported me and been a part of my journey in high school.
🎓 In your opinion, what are the most important attributes one must have to be the topper of the class?
It’s important to have a strong sense of judgment to succeed academically. You will often feel overwhelmed with the workload in classes so it’s crucial to prioritize certain assignments over others and choose the method of working that suits you best, whether it be independently or collaboratively.
🎓 What is your favorite memory from ISD?
I can’t think of a particular memory, but every day of senior year has been really enjoyable. From organizing school events like prom to spending time with my friends in the senior lounge, we’ve tried our best to make the most of our last year at ISD.
🎓 Where are you heading after ISD?
I’ll be joining Brown University’s Class of 2026.
🎓 Where do you see yourself 10 years from now on?
I can’t tell for sure how everything’s going to play out, but I hope to someday return to my home country of Bangladesh and work in the field of development. It’s always been something I’m passionate about so I hope that college and work experiences will equip me with the skills/knowledge to make a meaningful contribution to this sector.
🎓 How do you think ISD has prepared you for life outside of school?
ISD has allowed me to think independently about issues facing both myself and the world. I believe independent thinking is an invaluable asset to have as we encounter countless challenges when moving forward to our next stages in life.
🎓 What will you miss most about ISD?
I’m going to miss our dynamic as a grade because we’ve all practically grown up together; we've always had a shared understanding and agreement with one another. I’ve also gotten the chance to meet people who are going to be my best friends for the rest of my life.
🎓 What is one piece of advice you would give to underclassmen?
I’d tell them to always speak up for what they believe in and to constantly learn from their mistakes in the process; only then can they make better decisions in the future.
