Grade 5 to 6 Transition Visual Arts
It was fun having the Grade 5 PYP students sampling a secondary visual art lesson. Such a wonderful energetic bunch, that we are looking forward to having for the next academic year of 2022-23. Part of the transition included students seeing the connections of the design cycle with the MYP Art Criteria, a sneak peak at the units. During the transition visual art lesson, students got to create a Portrait of themselves in Cubist Style.
Students learned a little about Pablo Picasso and how he was inspired by African masks. That led him to bring the distortion and geometry into his work. They also discovered how Picasso was also interested in having many viewpoints in one artwork. In the end the Grade 5 students created an expressionistic self portrait.
