Grade 3 Amazing Achievements

Grade 3 students started this academic year with the focus of building on their Friendship Skills. Full engagement with many agreements and disagreements were part of students’ learning and further development of their ATL skills. They created a wonderful Assembly for Primary, where they role-modeled different ways to be kind to others.

Last November, Grade 3 students showed how Open-Minded they are when visiting Friends of Basha, a non-profit initiative that provides training, support and care for women and children at risk. Our students were very touched after talking with some of the women and children at Basha. Back in school, they inquired about “No Poverty“– United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Nr 1 – and understood that many children do not have access to the basic standards of living and social protection.

During the unit How We Organize Ourselves, students explored the role goods and services play in people’s lives. They inquired into how supply and demand works and ways people participate in the local economy. Visiting Friends of Basha has driven our students to have an in-depth understanding of the concept of donation, leading to the successful Winter Bazaar last December.

Through research, reflections and meaningful discussions, all Grade 3 students agreed that education can stop poverty in the long term. The Caring attitude of our students led to the decision to donate goods to the children at Friends of Basha on the short term. They were very Principled when elaborating on a plan for the items to be sold, taking into consideration the total cost and profit. They worked hard in school to prepare the products to sell and to raise the donation funds during the Winter Bazaar.
