CAS Exhibition 2023
CAS (Creativity, Activity, and Service) is a core element of the IB Diploma Programme. Its goal is to advance and develop students’ interpersonal and personal learning. Students participate in a variety of events outside the classroom as part of CAS, which is built on the concepts of experiential learning.
The emphasis is on learning by doing through engaging in authentic experiences that have authentic effects, accomplishing learning outcomes by giving evidence, and reflecting on these experiences on a continuous basis to drive deeper learning. CAS experiences and projects have a significant role in identifying the quality students will need for a balanced life as they highlight attributes of holistic development. it benefits all involved: students learn as they identify and address authentic community needs, and the community benefits through reciprocal collaboration. CAS fosters the development of abilities, attitudes and values in accordance with the IB mission statement and the IB learner profile.
International School Dhaka hosted the CAS Exhibition on March 20th, when all members of the Class of 2023 showcased their major achievements throughout the course of their 18-month CAS journey. The most remarkable CAS projects from 33 DP students have been selected to be displayed in front of the ISD community. By encouraging students’ self-awareness, providing a variety of opportunities for interactions and experiences, and providing opportunities for global thinking, CAS projects are one of the most transforming elements of CAS by promoting students’ self-awareness, offering diverse occasions for interactions and experiences and opportunities for international-mindedness. During this Exhibition, students highlighted their most impactful ‘Service’ to their community and society by taking into account the opinions and expectations of others involved and focusing on meaningful and authentic needs to ensure actions are respectful and reciprocal. All of the CAS projects progressed by addressing multiple UN sustainable development goals. The seniors presented an interactive presentation that covered significant parts of their CAS Journey during the course of the 2-hour long CAS exhibition.
The CAS Exhibition guests list included all Grade-12 parents and 9-11 grade students of ISD. We also had Mr. Korvi Rakshand, the founder of JAAGO foundation a leading non-profit organization in Bangladesh, as the special guest of the event. As the CAS coordinator, it was a proud moment to witness the emerging leaders of our global community exhibiting their significant actions as responsible citizens. Congratulations to the Class of 2023 for the successful completion of CAS!
