Grade 2 Body Systems Study

In Grade 2, students are focusing on how our human body systems are all connected. The students had to work in groups of four or five to brainstorm and discuss different ways to keep our bodies healthy and the names and functions of organs that make up each body system.

The students spent six weeks of learning the vocabulary and knowledge and learn how to apply it to better understand how each body system is connected to keep the whole body healthy and safe. The students can explain that without the respiratory system the brain would not get oxygen to work. Without the Circulatory system the lungs would not get blood to make oxygen. The students worked hard to use their knowledge to finalize their human body models as shown in the pictures. The Grade 2 class embodied the Learner Profile Thinkers with all of the research they did on each of the six body systems. The Grade two’s were also great communicators when they created and shared with primary classes a play on the body systems better explaining how crucial each body system is.
