Update from the Service & CAS Coordinator
ISD secondary service-learning is excited to return to the norms we used to have before the pandemic. Students are spontaneously engaged in their local community as a part of different service groups and for the service connections in different subject areas.
This month was full of service initiatives. Food4Youth service group raised funds and donated rice to feed poverty-stricken people through the ‘1 Taka Meal’ program of the Bidyanondo Foundation. The Solmaid service group organised a stationery collection drive and a fundraiser. They donated stationery to the students of Solmaid Community School to support their education.
The Grade 8 Humanities class supported the disadvantaged people in our community by raising funds and donating necessary items such as… They also built websites to address United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals like gender equality, no poverty, quality education, etc.
The Grade 7 French Language Acquisition class organised a bake sale and mask selling to raise money to donate to Families For Children Orphanage to help and assist the well-being of the orphans with mental and physical disabilities.
As the academic year is ending soon, the Service & CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service) deadline is approaching fast. The MYP students are expected to add their Service as Action activities following evidence and reflections on Managebac to meet their grade level requirements by May 19, 2022. For CAS, the Grade-11 students are to meet their respective requirements by May 7th, 2022.
At the end of every academic year, we have ‘Service Days’ to celebrate the phenomenal service projects across the ISD secondary school. On this occasion, our students collaborate with our community partner schools and their students to support the local community. This year we are organising the service days on June 20 and 21, 2022.
